Newcastle United 1990/1991 Season Review DVD
The 1990/1991 season was an eventful one for Newcastle United. It started with Jim Smith’s attempt to lift the Magpies after the heartbreak of losing the Play-Offs in the previous campaign. Mick Quinn again top-scored and hit the 20 goal mark. While we saw the emergence of rookies Lee Clark, Steve Watson, Alan Thompson, Steve Howey and Robbie Elliott. But the Bald Eagle’s days in the hot seat ended when United found themselves too far behind in the promotion race.
In the final weeks of the season Ossie Ardiles became the first foreign boss at St James’s Park when he replaced Smith. The new manager ushered in a change of style, scrapping the direct approach for a more fluent passing game. The Magpies finished up in mid-table with high hopes for the youngsters.
This Official Season Review features the best of the action from another colourful.
