Sometimes fact is harder to believe than fiction – and just when we thought Luis Suarez had matured into a role model for the beautiful game he’s gone and done it again. Liverpool’s Uruguayan superstar has been accused of biting Italian Giorgio Chiellini.
At best Suarez was guilty of an attempted head butt. But the Italian defender was in no doubt – Suarez took a bite out of his shoulder.

The television images beamed to a massive global audience look indisputable.

ITV pundit Ian Wright summed up the football world’s disbelief when he said: ” I just can’t believe it.  He’s done it again. He has a problem and he needs help.”

One minute later team mate Godin scored the matchwinner that eliminated Italy. The South American finish runners up to Costa Rica who were held to a goal-less draw by rock bottom England.

But the big question tonight is will Suarez be allowed to play on in this tournament. According to FIFA rules biting is an offence could earn Suarez a ban of up to TWO YEARS
“It was ridiculous not to send Suarez off,” Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini told Rai TV.

“It is clear, clear-cut and then there was the obvious dive afterwards because he knew very well that he did something that he shouldn’t have done.”

Luis Suarez refused to admit his guilt telling reporters: “These things happen in the box. We were in contact, chest against shoulder and I got a knock to the eye. “

Chiellini’s shirt was torn and the 29 year-old had red marks on his left shoulder.
